Joey was born and raised outside of St. Louis, MO and attended the University of MO-Columbia where she met her husband, Justin. She and her husband moved to Minneapolis in 2008 and then to the Stillwater area in 2012. They are avid outdoors people and enjoy sharing the beautiful North land with their 2 children, often camping for weeks at a time throughout MN, WI, and MI. When not camping and caring for her family, dogs, cat, and chickens, Joey enjoys exercise, sewing (she was a full time seamstress before kiddos), knitting and books.
Joey realized how crucial community is after the birth of her first daughter. When she was introduced to ArtSpoke through a friend, she saw a wonderful opportunity to not only give to the community, but to also expand her own with inspiring people of all ages. Watching her daughter come out of her shell through the amazing projects ArtSpoke offers has been a true testament to the beautiful things that happen when children are given the opportunity to expand their experiences. She truly believes when children of all ages and abilities work together to make something whether it be food, art, or a natural playground, a sense of self empowerment is the gift.
